Object Description
An antique archaeological revival style gold fringe necklace by Carlo Giuliano circa 1880. This necklace is designed as a series of stylised cicada design pendants, with beaded terminals, suspended from gold coils over the loop-in-loop chain.
The Italian jeweller Carlo Giuliano (1831-1895) came to London in about 1860. Little biographical detail is known of him prior to this except that he very likely trained under and worked for Castellani in Rome.
