Object Description
From our collection of 19th Century Japanese metalworks, this attractive, little pair of Silver Koros with delicate repousséd enamel design of flowering Cherry Blossom (Sakura) and Autumnal Japanese Maple (Acer) leaves.
The Koros sit on small tripod feet and feature heart-shaped holes to allow incense smoke to escape.
A common design choice in Japan to have a pair of objects that feature Cherry Blossom and Acer, they represent the changing of the seasons and the fleeting beauty of life. The corresponding object is often brought to the forefront at the appropriate (Seasonal) time of the year.
Signed Nemoto to the underside.
