Object Description

An early 19th century mariner’s walking cane, the carved wrythen shaft with a plain octagonal top section running into a conforming handle carved from the tooth of a sperm whale, joined by a band of baleen and centred with an octagonal piece of the same, of good colour and with an attractive old patina. English, circa 1840.
