Object Description
A good Japanese wooden Bamboo basket with woven willow handles and outer rim and splinted wooden legs to resemble a barrel. The basket has a Bronze liner to hold floral displays (Ikebana).
Signed to the underside Iizuka Hosai II, (1872-1934). The artist was a maker of considerable skill and talent and is widely celebrated as one of the most renowned basket makers of his time. This example dates from between 1922 and 1932.
