Object Description

The shell or scalloped shaped parlour chair, in a peach coloured fabric with single piping, having a five fanned back with shaped arms and shaped apron to cabriole legs, the whole surviving from the second quarter of the nineteenth century.

Object Literature

The shell shaped back was revived as an art deco style and this motif is typical of the natural motifs such as shells, sunrises and flowers of both periods and the design is still being re-imagined to this day.

Perfect for a corner in a bedroom.

Object Condition

In good sturdy order, the fabric is not torn and we have given it a clean. The castors if present before are now lacking. There is a loose swab cushion also provided.
