Object Description
From our collection of antique Japanese ceramics, this attractive Satsuma Koro dating from the Meiji-era (around 1880).
Decorated with finely painted panels of figures in landscapes and classical Japanese scenes of serenity. The paintings sit on a classic dark blue ground, synonymous with the producer of this Koro, the world-renowned Kinkozan Company of Kyoto. The blue ground is then paintined with elaborate, Gold swirling geometric patterns.
The cover is delicately pierced in a design reminiscent of the Chrysanthemum, (the emblem of the Emperor)
The Koro stands on four feet and is signed Kinkozan to the underside.
