Object Description
From our collection of Japanese enamelware from the time of Emperor Meiji, (1868-1912) this delightful pair of Cloisonne vases signed Ota Tameshiro.
Each vase with a large, intricately decorated panel. On one side, on a pale green ground, a flock of Sparrows fly amongst flowering Wisteria above a stream and on the reverse, (on a sky blue ground), a flock of Doves rest on the boughs of a Cherry tree in full bloom.
The top of each panel with a mythical beast peering over the frame.
Between each main panel, on the “sides” of each vase are smaller panels depicting stylised Phoenix and Dragons and above an oval shaped smaller panel with a group of butterflies.
Each vase with the mark of Ota Tameshiro.
