Object Description

From our collection of antique Japanese ceramics, this fine Kinkozan Company Satsuma Koro with a Komainu (Shishi) knop.

The body of the Koro is decorated with large panels of Ikebana (floral displays) and a series of beautifully painted ceramics on opulent low, lacquer tables. The panels have three dimensional borders made to resemble Bamboo. These finely painted panels are further enhanced by a rich, dark blue ground with bold, colourful flowers and Temari balls.

On top of the blue and Gold cover, a large Male lion dog (Komainu) playfully paws at a ball.
