Object Description
An Important Pair of Louis XIV Style Wall Appliques By Henry Dasson of Paris
Of the highest quality and retaining its original fire gilded finish with burnished highlights, each wall applique modelled as a bearded male herm emerging from a scalloped cuirass, surrounded by acanthus, and scrolling foliage, issuing five imbricated arms terminating in scrolls supporting the original drip pans and bobèches. Both signed and dated in the ormolu “Henry Dasson 1885.”
French, dated 1885
