Object Description

The unusual centre or side table having a circular fruitwood three-plank top, on a baluster-turned and ball end-pendant pillar, to a multiple ring-turned cruciform base, formed from splayed legs and spindle stretchers, the whole with a beautiful patina and texture and surviving from the first quarter of nineteenth century England.

Object History

Unknown.

Object Literature

We haven’t seen a table with this configuration before, and it is almost certainly a one-off.

A unique and serious piece of folky furniture for the discerning eye.

Object Condition

In good overall order, the table simply shows light wear to the staining of the beech as photographed. The top has a good colour to the fruitwood, almost akin to a surface like glass. The legs have been cut down marginally historically at some stage.
