The painted pine carcass with three pronged cresting showing the wonderful original textured surface of original Georgian period pea green paint now worn and burnished to charcoal in many areas, worn thoroughly and consistently with age, having an attractive and unusual concertina shaped design, incorporating a spoon rack over a double cutlery box to hinged lids with leather and wire mounts, the whole surviving from the zeniths of eighteenth century England.

Traditionally, a bride received a spoon rack from her new husband, and it remained her personal possession. Scandinavian examples have chip carving, and the racks were usually painted; this example showing the original paintwork and a very unusual design for a Georgian piece.
A real sleepy vernacular delight in an unusual form.
In super condition, she is very honest and a bears a great colour. Designed to be hung on the wall at the shaped top, but she also free stands well on a table. The provincially made carcass has a wonderfully textured patina, with a host of character commensurate with its age and use and it complete and undamaged.
