Object Description

The unusual wall mirror, of good large size, having an iron frame with chased gold wave and dot decoration, and retaining the original thick mirror plate and backing board, surviving from mid-century France.

Object History

Unknown.

Object Literature

This mirror would have been crafted in the late art deco period, with the use of iron showing the transition into industrialism and modernism. The way it is constructed, and the manner in which it was previously attached to the wall, suggest a commercial use, perhaps a restaurant or bar.

A mirror with a great many possibilities, just add imagination.

Object Condition

In super overall condition there are no flaws to note, with wear to the frame as expected. There are one or two nice foxing marks to the plate. There are no hanging apertures for wall hanging but original drilled holes to each corner for integral wall mounting.
