Object Description

A charming early 20th Century Anatolian carpet with a simple design, woven with naturally undyed wool, in colours including ivory, caramel and muted brown.  These earthy tones have a subtle colour variation which adds a great sense of depth and richness to the drawing.

Anatolian carpets have a rich heritage, stretching at least as far back as the 13th century, and were amongst the first wave of Oriental carpets exported to Europe. They can be seen in iconic paintings of many of the European masters including Memling, Lotto and Holbein. Today, these decorative carpets are highly appreciated for their elegant designs, soft colours and lustrous wool.

In very good practical condition for everyday use.
