Object Description

An ancient Egyptian, steatite scarab with a decorative motif to the reverse. The obverse features a stylised head and clypeus, formed from gentle moulding and incised lines. The prothorax and elytra are formed from slightly curving linear marks. Two inverted triangles descend to form the humeral callosities. The reverse features a central floral motif, depicting a stylised lotus flower emerging from the mouth of a simple fish on a hook. The amulet has been perforated horizontally for suspension.

Date: Circa 1550 – 664 BC
Period: New Kingdom – Late Period

Object Condition

Good Condition. Some earthly encrustations and chipping to the surface. Repair to left side.
