Object Description
An ancient Egyptian moulded amulet, made of turquoise glazed faience, depicting the god Maahes. The deity is shown striding with his left leg forward, with his feet resting on an integrated rectangular base. As is typical he keeps his elongated arms stiff at his sides, hands clenched into fists. His facial features are leonine in nature, with a tapering snout and rounded ears. On his head he wears an atef crown, with two long ostrich feathers curling at the sides. The deity also wears a short, shendyt kilt, as was common on amulets. The reverse of the amulet features a dorsal pillar and a small hole for suspension by the god’s elbows.
