Object Description

An ancient Egyptian, turquoise faience amulet, depicting a rolled papyrus sceptre, known as wadj in Ancient Egyptian. The body is shaped in typical column form, tapering towards the bottom. The top flares outwards to a splayed terminal with a loop, decorated with vertical ridges, for suspension. Three incised bands are visible below the terminal.

Date: Circa 664-332 BC
Period: Late Period

Ex English collection, AB, acquired 1920s-40, passed by descent.

Object Condition

Good Condition. Some earthly encrustations and hairline cracks throughout the surface.
