Object Description
A finely restrung Ancient Roman necklace composed of glass beads of different hues of black. The beads include cylindrical, discoid, and spherical, increasing in size towards the centre. The necklace features a pendant-like drop formed from four beads, and a hooped bead, through which the necklace is secured. Each bead is unique in translucency, texture, shape and size, which create a mosaic-like impression. The necklace testifies to the popularity of glass ornaments across the Roman Empire. The necklace is finished with a gold-plated clasp (please be aware the clasp has not been professionally tied).
