Object Description
A finely restrung Ancient Roman necklace composed of small glass circular beads of different hues of black. The beads alternate between a cluster of small beads and a large ovoid bead creating a periodic pattern. At the centre sits a gold, circular, slightly domed pendant. A single twisted gold wire surrounds the perimeter and a small gold granule is visible below the suspension loop. Each bead is unique in texture and shapes which create a mosaic-like impression. The necklace testify to the popularity of glass ornaments across the Roman Empire. The necklace is finished with a modern silver clasp (please be aware the clasp has not been professionally tied).
