Object Description
A very fine Ancient Roman ‘cotton reel’ unguentarium, cast-formed from a translucent blue glass. The vessel features a globular body which tapers towards the neck with a strong blue hue, from which a long, cylindrical neck develops to a small, circular mouth. A flaring, everted rim with a folded lip extends from the mouth. The vessel rests upon a flat base with a circular pontil mark. Very minor earthy encrustations scratches, and pitting feature to the surface. Pinprick bubbles feature throughout the glass.
