Object Description
An ancient Roman, cast glass bottle, probably used to contain ointments (unguent), medicine, cosmetics or perfume. It features a short conical body with convex sides, a long thick cylindrical neck and a wide, out-sprayed flat rim. The vessel is almost completely covered with a mixture of brown, cream and sand encrustation giving a granite like appearance. The heavy texture of the glass is typical of cast glass vessels, especially those found in Romano-Egypt.
