Object Description

A fine Ancient Roman cosmetic container, kohl, blown from pale blue glass. The vessel features a slender piriform body which stands on a substantial flat base. Two handles have been applied to the cylindrical neck, then drawn up and pressed onto the everted rim. Blowing striations and air bubbles formed during the production process are visible on the body.

Date: 2nd – 4th Century AD

Object Condition

Very good condition. Dark iridescence, weathering and earthly encrustation to the surface.
