Object Description
A finely restrung Ancient Roman necklace composed of glass beads of different hues of light blue. The beads include cylindrical, discoid, and spherical shapes. Groups of smaller beads alternate with larger spherical and ovoid beads. The necklace features a pendant-like drop formed from three large beads, and a rectangular faience bead with perforations, through which the necklace is secured. Each bead is unique in translucency, texture, shape and size, which creates a mosaic-like impression. The necklace testifies to the popularity of glass ornaments across the Roman Empire. The necklace is finished with a gold-plated clasp (please be aware the clasp has not been professionally tied).
