Object Description

This is an elegant dining set that comprises an antique Regency Revival triple pillar dining table, by the renowned Edinburgh cabinet makers Whytock & Reid, Circa 1900 in date and a set of twelve antique Regency Period dining chairs, Circa 1825 in date.

The rounded rectangular table top with reeded edge is in mahogany and has two leaves which can be added or removed as required to suit the occasion. It can seat fourteen people in comfort. It stands on three gun-barrel sabre-leg bases,  the centre section on four outswept legs, the end sections on three legs, all the legs terminating in decoratively embossed brass castors.

The underside of each section is stamped ‘10856’, retailed by Whytock & Reid

The delightful Vintage set of fourteen superb swag back dining chairs dates from the second half of the 20th Century.

The superb set of twelve Irish George IV, Regency Period,  flame mahogany dining chairs dates to circa 1825.

The set comprises ten side chairs and a pair of armchairs all masterfully crafted in beautiful solid flame mahogany. Each chair has a curved back and a shaped, eared, foliolate-wrapped, S-scroll carved toprail centred by a lappeted lambrequin, above an acanthus carved baluster form splat. The chairs are raised on stylish ring-turned balusters and reeded tapering front legs and square, splayed rear legs, with stuff over drop-in seats that have been reupholstered in a sumptuous cream damask.
