Object Description
A Delightful Early George II Period Walnut Bureau Of Superb
Colour And Patination Having Superbly Figured Fall Front Enclosing
Well Fitted Interior Above Four Long Drawers With Replacement Brass
Handles Raised On Original Shaped Bracket Feet
(Dating to the early 18th century this bureau retains a wonderful warm
rich colour and patination that can only be achieved through years of
being loved and cared for. It has a nicely fitted, but not excessively
elaborate interior and although the drawer handles are replacements
they are of the exact style of the originals and through the original handle
holes which of course means no ugly marks or holes. It is in remarkably good
overall condition with just the standard old marks, scuffs and scrapes you
would expect on an item of this age.
Polished and ready to go straight into the home it would suit a variety of
spaces around the home whether being used just as a functional piece of
furniture at the side of a room to add a different look compared to a standard
chest of drawers, or whether being used for its full original purpose with the
fall down and as a writing desk, it will look magnificent and undoubtedly
add a touch of 18th century georgian sophistication to any interior.)
