Object Description
158 Large basket shaped tea caddy with curved sides made of rosewood with lovely fine boxwood stringing to every edge, original brass ball and claw feet and side handles and an ivory escutcheon. The interior has rosewood lids and compartments for tea as well as central compartment for bowl for mixing tea or for sugar, the interior restored with red paper and matching velvet to match the original.
The original lead glass sugar bowl has been broken in two places and has the most wonderful 19th century repair which involves the use of a rivet and was probably done around 1860-1900. The lock and key of this tea caddy are working fine.
