Object Description

An exquisite design and elegant soft rare colours on this antique Amritsar carpet woven in the late 19th century.  A subtle variety of pink dyes are used for the main field colour and outer border to frame this classical medallion design.  Scrolling flowers and leaf design in the main border and around the central flower.  This carpet uses, gold tones, pale greens, pinks with hints of darker burgundy we see in Agra carpets of India.

We have been visiting customers all over the UK from London to Aberdeen, Ireland and Europe over the last 25 years.  If you would like us to show you this carpet and alternatives in-situ it would be a pleasure to show it to you.  Request a home visit or contact us to arrange a day and time.

Object History

Private estate in Scotland.

Object Condition

Condition wise it is very good, with only small areas of lower pile in places but in general the pile is high and durable.  No repairs to the end/fringes or sides which are all original.  The dyes have faded considerably over the last 100 plus years, giving this carpet a wonderful palette.  Please look at the 11 additional images we have added to this new listing.  All our photography tries to represent the true nature and colours of a carpet using no flash photography and natural light.
