Antique Bohemian glass box decorated in Chinoiserie style

This superb casket features intricate painted details atop its glass body. The box showcases the expert glassware emerging from Bohemia in the 19th century.
Crafted from clear glass, the rectangular casket features a hinged lid with a gilt-metal rim. White enamel panels adorn the top and sides of the casket, and act as a base for decorative designs. The oval panels on the longest sides of the box feature figurative scenes in the Chinoiserie style, depicting one man feeding a heron and another fishing. Each figure is surrounded by foliate designs, as well as gilt scrollwork which seamlessly emerges from the scene itself. The two oval panels are surrounded by a scrolling gilt border.
The shorter sides of the casket feature herons amid similar foliate and gilt designs, within an octagonal-shaped panel. Rectangular painted panels also adorn each of the corners of the casket, decorated with abstract green designs that link to the floral designs elsewhere on the casket. Panels in this style also border the casket’s lid.
A gilt basket of fruit adorns the centre of the casket’s lid, enclosed within an enamel cartouche painted with floral wreaths. Further gilt scrollwork adorns the interior and exterior borders of the cartouche.
