Object Description
A superb antique bronze and marble sculputure group titled “The Betrothal” by Carl Kauba (1865-1922), circa 1890 in date.
The bronze features a classical youth placing a ring on the hand of a girl sitting on a stepped marble base, signed C KAUBA FECIT.
This high quality hot cast solid bronze was produced using the traditional “lost wax” process, otherwise known as the “cire perdue” method.
The craftsmanship is second to none throughout all aspects of this sculpure elegant touch to your home.

Carl Kauba
was an Austrian sculptor who was born in 1865. Great Plains Art Museum featured Carl Kauba’s work in the past. Carl Kauba’s work has been offered at auction multiple times, with realised prices depending on the size and medium of the artwork.
Since 1998 the record price for this artist at auction is 56,250 USD for his work: War and Peace, sold at Sotheby’s New York in 2010. The artist died in 1922.
