Object Description
This beautiful antique Victorian pedestal desk was constructed with very decorative burr and figured walnut.
It has recently benefitted from traditional professional restoration including French polishing and waxing.
It has also been fitted with a replacement black hide writing surface with blind and gilt tooling.
This is surrounded by a band of burr walnut and a ‘thumb moulded edge’.
The top is fitted with three drawers and there are three drawers to each pedestal.
The pedestals each have a decorative raised panelled back and stand on plinth bases with hidden brass castors.
All drawers are constructed with hand cut dovetail joints, mahogany linings, brass locks, ‘cock-beaded edges’ and turned wooden knobs.
The desk has been constructed in three sections, the top and two separate pedestals, for ease of installation.
This beautiful antique desk has a wonderful honey colour and striking figured walnut timbers. It would make an ideal study desk for a sitting room or home office.
