Carved Wye Salmon Trophy Fish Model.
An excellent Fochaber’s studio carved wooden cock salmon. The half block salmon has relief fins and is beautifully executed and painted to a high standard. This is most probably one of the Fochaber fish carved by John Tully and painted by his wife Isabella Tully.
In pencil writen to the back ‘5360, 27 lb Wye Salmon’.
The carving with dorsal fin, adipose fin, pectoral fin, pelvic fin, anal fin and tail fin, all in relief . The salmon is painted to a high standard with naturalistically painted greenish colours, with a dark head and back shading down through the paler tones to a cream-coloured belly. The fish is beautifully executed and made to a very high standard.
