Object Description

Moghan rugs were woven in a hilly district to the west of Talish above the Persian border and is one of a few areas in the Caucasus in which true nomadism was practiced.

This is a beautiful example of Moghan weaving with the double vertical row of ‘Memling Guls’ using vibrant colours you would associate with caucasian rugs. Notably the superb early aubergine and saffron yellow dyes with an unusual ivory white border.

Object Condition

Excellent condition with great early dyes like the Aubergine.
