Object Description
A Stunning Early 18th Century Queen Anne Period Walnut
Chest On Chest, Or Tallboy, Having Cavetto Moulded Top
Above Three Short And Six Long Drawers With Feather Banded
Decoration And Original Brasswear Raised On Original
Shaped Bracket Feet
(This particular walnut chest on chest is an excellent example of its
type and remains in lovely original condition with very little restoration
to speak of other than cleaning and polishing. Such a useful piece of
furniture at the same time as being beautiful it is still as fit for purpose
as it was the day it was made around 300 years ago. It retains it’s original
brass handles and lock escutcheons, as well as it’s original bracket feet
which is a pretty rare occurrence on pieces of this age that have been
well used over the years. It has well veneered and cross banded sides to
go along with superbly veneered drawer fronts meaning that it is fit to be
viewed at any angle in any room.)
