Object Description

An antique Edwardian style stoneware double sink on legs manufactured by Dent and Hellyer. Dating to circa 1920, these English sinks are both monogrammed with a royal cypher GVR, of George V (1910-1936), suggesting they were removed from a government building.

This is an elegant sink unit for a vintage bathroom or traditional couple’s ensuite. Its sophisticated design continues with stylish legs of good stature.

One of the pair holds an extra piece so they can interlock to form a double sink as pictured.

George V (1910-1936)

Prince George Frederick Ernest Albert was proclaimed King George V in 1910 following his father King Edward VII’s death. His coronation took place at Westminster Abbey in June, 1911.

He was the second son of the Prince and Princess of Wales (Queen Alexandra). Originally destined for a career in the Royal Navy, he and his elder brother Prince Albert Victor became cadets in 1877.

But after his brothers sudden death in 1892, Prince George became Duke of York and was put in direct line of succession.
