Object Condition

This Edwardian Hillcrest office chair and mechanism are in excellent condition, considering its age. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges of the chair but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The chair frame joints have been glued to ensure the oak back and arms are solid. The chair seat has been newly upholstered, to a professional standard, in top quality full grain green leather, which incorporates the traditional brass studwork tacks to the seat perimeter. Therefore, the leather is in excellent condition, with no wear, fading or damage. The Hillcrest reclining and adjustable height mechanism is in good working order, having just been cleaned, restored and serviced. There is some play to the mechanism but this is perfectly acceptable, and in line with the age of the chair. The chair features a rich dark oak colour, having been professionally French polished, by hand, in our workshops. The chair sits on four splayed solid oak legs that terminate on top quality replacement English made solid brass castors, which are in excellent condition.
