This is a fine quality antique English Georgian flame mahogany floor standing corner cupboard on a later associated stand, circa 1810 – 1830, incorporating a painted interior with internal shelves, in excellent condition. The cupboard splits into two sections at waist height, which allows easy access into the house. The cupboard comprises a moulded protruding cornice, decorated with cross-banding and half-turned drop finial mouldings. Below, is a pair of flame mahogany, cross-banded doors. The right-hand door retains the original turned knob, as well as the original working lock, with working key, while the left-hand door retains the original sliding bolt latch. The doors open to reveal a four-tier shelved interior, painted in attractive juniper ash (from Little Greene paint company), which attractively contrasts the red-brown exterior of the piece. Below the internal section of the cupboard, is a single hand dovetailed drawer, situated between two faux drawers. The drawer is oak lined and, along with the faux drawers, boasts a cross-banded front and the original turned knob. The top section terminates on a moulded apron, resting on the stand below, which incorporates a moulded, bowed top rail. The stand is raised on three straight block legs, which are connected by a shaped shelf. The shelf also includes an upstand to the rear, preventing items from rolling off the back. The cupboard is ideal in the kitchen or dining room, and offers significant storage space. This item is solid in joint and ready to use. The corner cupboard has been traditionally French polished by hand in our workshop; therefore, the finish and colour are in excellent condition.
The corner cupboard features a rich red-brown mahogany colour. It has a fantastic colour and patination having been cleaned and wax polished, along with the years of care and cleaning it has received.
This corner cabinet would look superb in any hallway, dining room or kitchen. This item would certainly grace any home and is a great investment, as it is extremely functional. So, don’t miss out on your chance to own a lovely piece of furniture.
