Description:
This is a fine quality antique English George III solid mahogany drop leaf dining table, circa 1800, displaying a stunning quality mahogany top, which seats between 4 – 6 people, in excellent original condition. Constructed from top quality solid mahogany timber, the table boasts a solid mahogany top with a stunning colour. During the 18th and 19th century, England was importing top-quality mahogany from the Caribbean and West Indies to England, which was used to make some of the finest mahogany furniture. The Georgian drop leaf dining table is raised on six sturdy block moulded legs, decorated with a shaped frieze either end. The drop leaf dining table incorporates two solid mahogany “drop leaves”, which can be opened to extend the size of table, supported by hinged gate legs below. The gate leg mechanism is in excellent working order.

The Georgian folding table can be configured in a multitude of ways, depending on how many chairs are to be used with the table. With the leaves extended, the table can seat up to 4 – 6 people. With only one leaf open, the table can seat between 2 – 4 people. This ability to be configured in so many different ways allows the table to be utilised in the best way possible according to room size and intended use. When the table is not in use, the leaves can be lowered and the table stored, to act as a sofa or console table against a wall.

The mahogany dining table boasts a stunning rich mahogany colour. It has a fantastic colour and patination, which is due to the years of care and cleaning it has received.

This Georgian mahogany table has many uses, apart from a drop leaf dining table – it would look elegant behind a sofa, as a lamp table or console table in a hallway. This truly is a very beautiful item with quality construction and is original throughout. This item would certainly grace any home, as it is a fantastic investment, given it has so many uses around the home. So don’t miss out on your chance to own a lovely piece of furniture.
