Description:
This is a fine quality antique English two-part floor standing Georgian oak corner cupboard, boasting a stunning colour, incorporating lovely Arcadian fielded door panels, circa 1800, in excellent original condition. The oak cupboard splits into two sections at the waist, which allows for easy access into the house or through narrow doorways. The Georgian oak corner cupboard comprises a moulded protruding cornice, decorated with dentil work above two large fielded oak panelled Arcadian doors, decorated with stunning mahogany cross-banding, retaining their original brass hinges and original steel lock & door latches, with working key. Inside, are three shaped shelves, with five small drawers below the lowest shelf, retaining their original brass drawer knobs. The doors are flanked by elegant fluted columns, terminating at the waist on a moulded plinth. The lower section also comprises two fielded oak panelled Arcadian doors, decorated with mahogany cross-banding, retaining their original brass hinges and brass lock & door latches, with working key. Inside is a shaped shelf at the min-point. The Georgian oak corner cupboard stands on its original bracket feet and retains its original backboards, which interestingly is made of earlier oak 17th century oak panelling, which you could argue was some of the earliest signs of recycling! It was not unusual to cannibalise earlier pieces of furniture or panelling in vernacular furniture. The antique corner cabinet ideal in the kitchen or dining room, as it offers significant storage space for either dry foods, crockery or utensils.

The Georgian oak cupboard is solid in joint and ready to use. It has been sympathetically cleaned and wax-polished by hand in our workshop to a professional standard. It retains its original patination; therefore, it has a fantastic colour, which can only be achieved by years of care and cleaning it has received.
