Description:
This is a stunning quality pair of rare antique English Victorian solid walnut Gentlemen’s club chairs, circa 1860, with deep proportions, which have been newly upholstered in top quality brown leather, in excellent condition. Boating deep scalloped seats, the chairs have been designed with deep-buttoned upholstered shaped backs and arms, which are not only decorative, but also extremely comfortable and supportive. The arms are held by sturdy ring turned vertical supports that unites the seat. The shaped backs are secured with two vertical supports, flanked by decorative pierced brackets. The seat itself is “scalloped”, which means the seat frame follows the contours of your body, therefore it is comfortable to sit at with or without the leather seat pads. However, using the leather seat pads adds additional comfort and support! The pair of club chairs have been newly upholstered to a professional standard in top quality full grain brown leather; incorporating the original horsehair fillings, showing exceptional craftsmanship, with deep button upholstery to the shaped back-rests. The leather is finished with hand-tacked antique brass studs to the perimeter of the upholstery.

The front legs are raised on sturdy but elegant ring turned supports, terminating on brass cup castors. The pair of club chairs stand on their original ring turned legs to the front and splayed legs to the rear, united by a substantial crinoline stretchers (sign of quality), terminating on top quality solid brass & porcelain castors.

The pair of club chairs boast a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning they have received. These club chairs would look superb in either a traditional or contemporary setting, perfect in a variety of rooms from the office, library or living room. They would certainly grace any home and is a great investment as it is extremely functional and comfortable.
