Description:
This is a superb quality antique English early Victorian solid mahogany extendable ‘D end’ dining table, circa 1850, which seats up to eight persons, and extends up to 7ft 8” long, which is in excellent condition. The table is 3ft 11½” wide, meaning that it can also be used in narrow rooms. Constructed from top quality mahogany, the table features a solid mahogany moulded top with a stunning colour, above a straight frieze. The table is raised on elegant turned fluted legs, which terminate on the original brass cup castors. The table consists of a pair of ‘D ends’, which is united by a wooden telescopic mechanism. The wooden telescopic mechanism was an earlier design for adjusting the lengths of dining tables, later superseded by steel threaded winding bar and winding handle. One benefit of this earlier mechanism, is that it does not feature the steel mechanism, thus less parts, which means there is less to fail, when operating the mechanism. The table is opened by two persons pulling each end apart (on the wooden telescopic mechanism). The table can be closed by two persons pushing the table together.
The mechanism allows the ends to either be brought completely together or extended to accept all three additional ‘drop-in’ leaves for extending the table. The ‘drop-in’ leaves connect to the ‘D ends’ and to each other via brass connecting locks situated on the underside. The table can be configured in a multitude of different ways: the two ‘D ends’ can be brought together to form a circular centre table, which will seat four people. The ‘drop-in’ leaves are each a different size (a small, a medium & a large); therefore, they allow for many different combinations to achieve slightly different lengths, to best suit the intended number of users. At maximum length, the table can seat up to eight persons. This ability to be configured in so many different ways allows the table to be utilised in the best way possible according to room size and intended use. The ‘D-ends’ & ‘drop-in’ leaves retain their built-in brass connecting locks (to the underside of the leaves), which are used to connect the various leaves together. The chairs in the picture are not included in the price.
The table boasts a stunning rich brown mahogany colour. It has fantastic original colour and patination this is due to the years of care and cleaning it has received.

Delivery times are usually 1-4 weeks depending on location; we aim to deliver the majority of items within 2 weeks. All items are professionally packaged and fully insured in transit, therefore, we can assure you, your items will be securely protected in transit and arrive safely with you.
Once you have purchased an item, we will contact you by email and/or telephone and provide you with a provisional delivery date, in order for you to confirm if it is suitable for you. Once you have confirmed you can accept delivery on the provisional delivery date, we will book the delivery in with our shippers and it then becomes a confirmed delivery date.

It’s helpful if you can provide us with both the landline and mobile telephone number, in case the driver cannot reach you on one of the numbers on the day of delivery, they can contact you on your alternative number.
In order to be able to offer you free delivery, it is based on a 1-man delivery only. For any large items that require 2 people to lift the item, we ask that you are available at the time of delivery to be able to give our shipper a lift off the van and into your house with the item. If you are not able to lift items yourself, we ask that you have someone on hand at the time of delivery to assist our shipper with lifting the item.
Free 14 Days UK Returns & Refunds:
A free 14-day “no quibble” returns policy (from the date you receive the item) is available if you are not happy with this item. We will collect the item free of charge from you (we do not charge a return fee / collection fee). You will be given a full refund as long as the item is returned in the same condition. We will collect returns using our own specialist furniture delivery company. We will not accept returns via a courier service (due to experience of damaged items in transit). This refund policy only applies to deliveries to the UK.

For UK buyers, we accept cash on collection or delivery; cheque, credit card, BACS (free bank to bank transfer) or PayPal. Payment is requested within 5 days of the sale. Payment must be cleared before the items are collected or delivered.
