Description:
This is a fine quality antique English oil painting of country farmyard scene depicting a horse, its foal and a turkey, in a gilt frame, by Henry Charles Woollett, painted circa 1870, in excellent condition. The painting depicts a horse (dam) overlooking her foal, whilst a turkey stands near, within an English country farmyard scene, with a barn and fenced track behind, painted early evening. Lovely woodland and landscape colours in the background. The painting accurately reproduces the natural colours of the subject, with an attractive range of greens, browns and rusty hues, with subtle red detailing. The item also boasts wonderful texturing, evident in the leaves on the trees and the vegetation on the ground. The painting is set into a fine quality ornate gilt frame and the painting is oil on canvas. The canvas is signed ‘H. C. Woollett’ in the bottom left-hand corner.

Artist Provenance:
Henry Charles Woollett, born 1826 – 1893. He actively painted between 1840 – 1890. He lived in London but often painted in Cheshire. He is famous for his rustic farmyard scenes, which he exhibited in London’s art galleries & museums. He also exhibited at Suffolk Street Art Gallery. A favourite is the “Straw yard” painted at varying times of the day, this usually included in horses, chickens and a turkey.

Free 14 Days UK Returns & Refunds:
A free 14-day “no quibble” returns policy (from the date you receive the item) is available if you are not happy with this item. We will collect the item free of charge from you (we do not charge a return fee / collection fee). You will be given a full refund as long as the item is returned in the same condition. We will collect returns using our own specialist furniture delivery company. We will not accept returns via a courier service (due to experience of damaged items in transit).
