Object Description

A romantic landscape depicting a young buck deer startled amidst his parkland by the emergence of a strange giraffe-like creature with leopard spots and lions feet.

A chinoiserie influence to the buildings centred in the landscape, a waterfall and mountains in the distance, all edged by two of the original side borders, each depicting barley twist balustrades, with spiralling floral garlands, groups of figures (Adam & Eve) and masks. 

Flemish, Circa 1660-1700.

Some areas of earlier restoration but commensurate with age. Cleaned and re-lined.
