A very good quality flame mahogany early 19th Century French Louis Philippe period console table with a “Gris St Anne” marble top and frieze drawer circa 1830 .
Constructed from extremely good quality flame mahogany veneers this antique console has a variegated grey “Gris St Anne” marble top with a reeded edge resting on a shaped frieze containing a central hidden oak lined drawer. The top is held with flame mahogany shaped supports terminating on superbly carved and detailed loins paw feet with foliate decoration resting on a shaped inverted base raised on moulded circular feet.
This well proportion console table is in excellent condition having been restored using traditional methods with a wonderful mellow flame mahogany colour with a fine grain and original marble.
A very elegant console table in first class condition with a lovely colour dating to circa 1820s/30s which will work in any setting.
Gris St.Anne Marble is a dark grey marble with white and light grey markings. It is quarried mainly in Belgium at Gougnies near Charleroi and at Biesme, Namur.
