Object Description
Designed during the sumptuous Belle Époque, this gilt bronze chandelier demonstrates the very best of the period.
The chandelier is supported by a central highly ornate gilt bronze stem. This stem supports the three light branches, each C-scroll branch, foliate in form, terminating in a single suspended light holder. The form of the C-scroll branches is mirrored below by the three acanthus leaves that support gilt bronze cherubim, their addition lending a feeling of Rococo classicism to the piece. The entire chandelier is laden with foliate elements: leaves and sprigs emerge from every aspect. The stem is surmounted by a corona of palmettes, also delicately cast from bronze and finely gilt.
