Object Description
Antique French Neoclassical alabaster pedestal
French, Late 19th Century
Height 112cm, width 35cm, depth 35cm
This elegant and fine pure white alabaster pedestal was made in France in the late nineteenth century. It is carved in Neoclassical form giving it the formality and order that this style is particularly well known for.
The pedestal consists of a tall, tapering, and spiralling column stem. It is mounted on a ridged, bulb base, with simple bead frieze rings, with a mix of concentric circular and polygon shaped steps both to the base and beneath the upper surface. A square table surface adorns the top of the pillar, on which to mount the decorative object of choice. This grand pedestal will make a great addition to the appropriate interior or exterior setting.
