Object Description
Antique garnet and pearl set snake necklace. Set with three oval old cut garnets in closed back claw settings with a combined weight of 4.00 carats, flanked by two round cabochon garnets to centre with a combined weight of 0.40 carats in claw settings, further set with seven beaded natural pearls, comprising a snake head with open mouth suspending a heart shape with locket back, all to intricate scrolling wire and beading work with a fixed tail end loop. The snake head extends to a graduated smooth interlinked snake chain with spring bar fitting to the head in the centre. Marked 15 carat yellow gold, chain approximately 14″, with fitted box, circa 1880.
