Object Description

An unusual late 18th Century Sheraton period satinwood Centre Table of attractive small proportions, having circular top with central inlaid panel depicting vase containing flowers & leaves with boxwood strung, rosewood & padoukwood crossbanding & cockbeaded edge. The Table with unusual weighted satinwood triple scroll legs joined by inlaid platform with penwork leaf border.

This beautiful table is one of a series. Amongst them is an example in the Royal Collection, and at one time, during the reign of King George V and his consort, Queen Mary, an example could be found in the Blue Drawing Room at Buckingham Palace. The tables vary in decoration but all are made from lustrous West Indian Satinwood and have finely detailed penwork decoration.
