Object Description
A very good quality Georgian bow fronted chest of drawers with an unusual drawer formation and original ring plate handles on splay feet.
This well constructed Georgian chest of drawers dates to circa 1790-1800. The bow fronted rectangular solid mahogany top having a moulded edge sits over a finely cockbeaded bowed drawer, below which there is a two drawer configuration but when pulled out it is one larger drawer. This is completely original and very rare to find. It would have been commission made for a client whom would have had the drawer formed in this manner so to store top hats or for whatever the extra height may have been needed for.
The chest of drawers retains its decorative brass ring handles and brass locks.
Standing on splay feet this quality antique Georgian chest of drawers has a wonderful colour and patina with a very good choice of timber used.
Offered in excellent condition having been restored using traditional methods this is a good quality, practical chest of drawers with a nice and unusual drawer formation.
