The duo is presented in a format that brings to minds depictions of the Madonna and Child: Venus, seated on a rockwork stump, embraces Cupid, who tenderly touches her face. The base is applied with green foliage, while the robe over Venus’ lap is parcel gilt with floral motifs, and Cupid’s robe is coloured a rich turquoise. The underside features a faded mark for Meissen.
