An antique Irish marble fireplace in the bolection style, dating from the early 20th century. Sourced from a property in Jersey, this antique fireplace has layering of greens, with white tones, which is visible in the polished finish; making a striking design. This would certainly be a statement piece in the reception or drawing room of contemporary and period homes alike.
Connemara marble was formed from muddy marine sediments deposited in a shallow primal sea. These sediments were transformed by forces generated in the formation of the landscape of the north west Atlantic coast of Ireland hundreds of millions of years ago. This stunning stone gets its name from the only region in which it is found, Connemara in Co. Galway.
Connemara marble is a rare and internationally prized stone. In 2022, it was officially named as a heritage stone and was given international recognition of its cultural importance and symbolism in Ireland.
