Object Description

An Antique Heriz carpet in wonderful original condition all over. Lovely soft pale blues in the corner spandrels with subtle pink and brick tones and a striking central sandy yellow medallion. Beautifully well drawn carpet with great detail. This carpet has been woven by weavers at the top of their game in Heriz as the design is well constructed and the central medallion has been beautifully executed. The pile is very high on this piece and would be a durable addition to a room, working with contemporary or traditional furniture.  Woven in the last 1/4 of the 19th century it has a great soft feel and more geometric than some Heriz the style is that of a Karaja village weaving too.

Heriz carpets have always been regarded as beautiful, tough objects of decoration, made in the north-west of Persia these handwoven works of art always have variations from one piece to another. Some draw influences from further north into the Caucasus and vivid colours like this particular carpet.  A decorative yet practical carpet which has been used for over 100 years and has already stood the test of time.
